National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY)

Establishment and Governance

Established: NIT Puducherry is one of ten NITs sanctioned by the Government of India in 2009 as part of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007–2012).
Mentoring: Initially mentored by the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
Visitor: The President of India serves as the ex officio visitor for all NITs.
NIT Council: This council operates under the President and includes various representatives, including ministers, directors of NITs, and members of Parliament, making it the highest decision-making body in the NIT system.

Organizational Structure

Board of Governors: Each NIT has a Board responsible for administration and control, composed of government officials, industry members, alumni, faculty, and more.
