DEB-ID Generation for ODL and Online Programmes

Starting from the academic session commencing in October 2024, the University Grants Commission - Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) has mandated a new admission procedure for all Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online (OL) Programs.

As per the UGC-DEB Public Notice dated 19th August 2024, all learners (except international students) must generate a DEB-ID using their Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID prior to enrollment.

Steps to Generate Your DEB-ID

Visit the UGC-DEB Web Portal
Navigate to the UGC-DEB website at https://deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDeBID.
Generate DEB-ID
Log in with your ABC ID and follow the instructions to create your DEB-ID.
Don’t Have an ABC ID?
If you do not already have an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID, create one using DigiLocker at https://www.digilocker.gov.in.
Lifetime Validity
Once generated, the DEB-ID is valid for your lifetime and can be used for all future admissions to ODL or OL programs.

Important Notes

Mandatory for Admission: Without a valid DEB-ID, admission to any ODL/OL program will not be granted.
