IIM Visakhapatnam, initially housed within Andhra University's campus, is set to establish its permanent campus in Gambhiram on the city's outskirts. At the temporary campus, classrooms are modelled after Harvard Business School, fostering a case study-based teaching methodology aimed at enhancing interaction between faculty and students. The land acquisition for the permanent campus is nearing completion, with plans for development across a sprawling 240-acre area. The foundation stone for the new campus was laid by Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on January 17, 2015.

The institute is helmed by Director Prof. Chandrasekhar Mylavarapu, an alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, and former Director of ASCI, Hyderabad. Offering a range of Post Graduate, Doctoral, and Executive Education programs, IIMV's flagship offering is the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), a two-year residential MBA program admitting candidates through the Common Admission Test. The PGP curriculum is comprehensive, covering disciplines such as accounting, behavioural sciences, finance, economics, human resource management, marketing, business operations, public policy, strategy, entrepreneurship, and general management.

In addition to the full-time PGP, IIM Visakhapatnam provides a two-year part-time Executive MBA program tailored for working professionals. Since 2019, the institute has also introduced the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program under the guidance of its mentor institute IIM Bangalore. Notably, in 2019, IIMV launched a unique executive program, the Post Graduate Program in Digital Governance and Management (PGP-DGM), leading to an MBA degree. This program, conducted in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, aims to address contemporary challenges in digital governance and management.

Admission Process for PGP Batch 2024-26 at IIM Visakhapatnam:

Phase-1: Candidates meeting CAT 2023 percentile cutoffs are shortlisted and invited to apply online.
