CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was founded based on the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a prominent educationist and social reformer from 19th-century South India. In 1831, Chavara established the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous Catholic congregation in India, which administers the university. Established initially as Christ College in 1969, the college gained autonomy from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2004 and was recognized as an "institution with potential for excellence" in 2006. In 2008, it was designated a deemed-to-be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Following a directive from the Supreme Court of India in 2018, the official name was changed to CHRIST (Deemed to be University). The university was one of the first institutions in India to be accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1998, receiving an A+ Grade in 2004, 2016, and 2022.

Campuses

Bangalore Central Campus
The main campus spans 25 acres within the 100-acre Dharmaram College Campus in central Bangalore. Located on Hosur Road (NH 7), it is surrounded by residential areas like BTM Layout, Koramangala, and Jayanagar.
Bangalore Kengeri Campus
Established in 2009, this campus covers 90 acres on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway (NH 275). It houses various schools, including the School of Engineering and Technology, the School of Business and Management, and the School of Architecture, which officially started in 2017.
Bangalore Bannerghatta Road Campus
Inaugurated in May 2016, this campus is located in Hulimavu on Bannerghatta Road.
Bangalore Yeshwanthpur Campus
Opened in July 2022, this 10-story campus spans 1.6 million square feet.
Delhi NCR Campus
Situated in Sewa Nagar, Ghaziabad, this off-campus location was established in 2013 and is conveniently located near the Shaheed Sthal metro station.
Pune Lavasa Campus
Known as the analytical hub of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), this off-campus institution is nestled within the Sahyadri mountain range in Lavasa, Pune. Established in 2014, the campus spans 28 acres.

Management Structure
CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is governed by the CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Trust, organized by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation, which operates under the Syro Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church. The Chancellor of the university is typically the rector of the Dharmaram Pontifical Seminary. Currently, the Vice-Chancellor is Dr. Fr. Joseph C. C.

Student and Faculty Community
The university serves over 30,000 students, supported by more than 1,200 faculty members across its campuses. It has a vibrant international community, comprising around 700 foreign students from 58 different nationalities.

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has published over 220 books in Kannada through the Kannada Sangha, a non-profit organization aimed at promoting the Kannada language.

Christ University offers a mix of merit and entrance-based admissions. Candidates who meet the course-specific eligibility criteria can apply online via the official Christ University website. Admission to most undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses, including MBA, BBA, MTech, and BSc, is primarily based on the Christ University Entrance Test (CUET). For certain courses, additional selection rounds such as Micro Presentation (MP), Personal Interview (PI), Skill Assessment (SA), and Group Discussion (GD) are conducted.

Admission Steps

Step 1: Application Process

Candidates must complete the application form available on the official website.
The application process will close approximately a week before the selection rounds.
Application Fee: INR 5,000 for all programs.

Step 2: Selection Rounds

Candidates must appear for selection rounds, which may include:
- Christ University Entrance Test for courses such as BSc, BTech, BBA, and BCom.
- Acceptance of national-level entrance exams (e.g., XAT, CAT, NATA) for specific courses.

Step 3: Shortlist Release and Final Offer

The results of the selection process will be announced on the university website.
Selected candidates will receive an E-Offer of Admission, which is valid until the date specified in the offer letter.

Step 4: Document Verification & Payment of Admission Fee

Candidates need to select a preferred date and time for the admission process.
The first-year fee, including the admission registration fee, must be paid online.
After fee payment, candidates will undergo document verification and will be informed about the course commencement date.
